Our spiritual roots
The Singularity Church of the Toad and Breathwork draws from a living lineage of wisdom traditions. Our practice is not invented — it is remembered. Rooted in the indigenous Shamanism of the Seri people of Sonora and enriched by the perennial philosophy, we offer a coherent, time-tested path to healing and awakening.
Primary Root
Seri Tribe Shamanism
The Seri (Comcáac) people of the Sonoran Desert — spanning the border of Sonora, Mexico and the Texas region — are among the oldest continuous cultures in North America. Their shamanic tradition holds the natural world as sacred and alive, with plant medicines serving as direct channels to the divine.
Our ceremonies honor this lineage: the use of sacred medicines not as recreation, but as sacrament — a structured encounter with the deeper intelligence of life itself. The Seri understood that healing the spirit heals the body. We carry that understanding forward.

The Shaman's Role
The shaman does not heal — the shaman creates the conditions for healing. Our facilitators are trained in this understanding: holding space, not directing outcomes.

The Perennial Philosophy
Theosophy
Founded by H.P. Blavatsky in the 19th century, Theosophy holds that all world religions share a single esoteric core — the unity of all life and the evolution of consciousness. We draw on its framework to understand the entheogenic experience as a genuine encounter with the deeper layers of reality, not a chemical anomaly.
The divine is not separate from nature — it is expressed through it.
G.I. Gurdjieff's Teaching
The Fourth Way
Gurdjieff taught that most human beings live in a state of "waking sleep" — mechanical, reactive, and unconscious. The Fourth Way offers a path of self-observation and intentional suffering to awaken genuine consciousness. Our ceremonies are structured to interrupt mechanical patterns and create the conditions for real self-awareness.
You cannot change what you cannot see. The medicine shows you what you have been avoiding.
The Path of Liberation
Buddhism
Buddhist philosophy — particularly the Theravada and Tibetan traditions — provides our integration framework. The understanding of impermanence, the nature of suffering (dukkha), and the possibility of liberation (nirvana) maps directly onto the entheogenic experience. We use Buddhist mindfulness practices before, during, and after ceremony.
Suffering arises from clinging. The medicine dissolves the grip — integration teaches you not to re-grip.
Science of Inner Knowing
Noetic Science
The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), founded by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, studies the intersection of consciousness, science, and healing. Their research validates what indigenous traditions have known for millennia: that consciousness is primary, not secondary, and that non-ordinary states of awareness can produce measurable, lasting healing outcomes.
The most rigorous science now confirms what the shaman always knew: consciousness is the foundation of reality.
